Losing Time
Writer: Justin Monjo | Director: Catherine Millar Original Air Date: 6/29/01
Hey ppl! I am just getting later and later in the week with these reviews, ain't I? I used to have em up less than an hr after the ep aired, way back in January, now I'm lucky if I get em up by Tuesday... oh, isn't work fun? NO. Heh.
This episode is brought to you by... um... *thinks really hard* BAND-AID brand bandages! I'm stuck on bandaids, cause bandaids' stuck on me! YEAH! *cheers* Y'know... cause... Crichton was like... bleeding? LOOK, if I have to explain it, it ain't funny! Heh.
-Oh, on a semi-related note, it looks as if Werksman and Stanton are now producers on I-man. Coooool. Now all we need is I-man refs in Farscape!
-Freaky camera angles in the teaser. It's no wonder it reminded me of LGM2 - same director. You can definately tell it's a dream sequence - but whose - John's or Scorpy's?
-Hmm. Talk about Closet Space. Dood. If my closet did that, I would prolly piss myself.
-Heeey, it's scorpy's dream. Ol Leatherface, we ain't seen you for a few eps. What a shock, you're up to your old tricks.
-Okay. I haven't yet seen anyone do this in any other review I've read. HELLO! SCORPIUS HAS CREATED A FREAKING WORMHOLE! HE'S DONE IT, DAMMIT! THIS IS DECIDEDLY NOT GOOD! See, we're all worrying about what's going down on Moya and Talyn that many of us missed this VERY BAD THING. This is what we've been trying to prevent for over a season, folks!
-Crichton's being all annoying. heh. The whole scene where he's pleading with the others to let him keep searching for the wormhole is just great.
-Thought: Could Moya be in the same area of space as Scorpy? They're seeing deep space variances that come with wormholes, and Scorpy's made one. I have a feeling it's this crew that will end up tangling with Scorpy again.
-Aw, Crichton's begging. Bwahaha.
-"D, C'mon, man, it's the STOOGES! *Stooges barking kinda noise*" LOL
-A little obsessive, Crichton? That's like saying Plokavians are a little fugly.
-Heh. What was that hand thing? Why do I have a mental image of Crichton going, 'OH no, girlfriend! Talk to the hand!'
-Heh. They're going thru a cluster. I can't get the word 'clusterfrell' out of my head.
-Eee, freaky alien creepy see-thru jellyfish manta ray thingie. Great CGI. It was significantly creepy.
-Eeek. Holy Linda Blair, batman! What is it with Monj and levitation this season?!
-BTW, I called this as a Monj eppy in the teaser. Simply because of all the new incomprehensible words, hehe.
-BLOOD!? LOTS OF IT?! What is with this? Oh, man, this is gonna be an ep heavy on the OCB, innit it?
-Hmm. Jool's still not in the credits yet.
-DAZZAMN, that's a lot of blood. I mean... that can't be healthy. What is that, a pint or two? Call a doctor!
-Nitpicky thing: I could've sworn Crichton was laying with his cheek in that blood. And, his head *was* bleeding in the teaser. So, when he rolls over, why is there no blood on his face?
-Okay, when Crichton's running thru the hall, wtf did he say? It sounded like 'EVAN!'. Yeah, Crichton, blame the lil Chianite! It's all his FAAAAAULT! Hehe.
-"Am I cut?" "Lemme see!... Aw, yeah." *thwack* ROFL! Omg, talk about big brother-little sister relationships! That was soooo like something you'd expect to see between siblings... I luuuuuv Chi... heh
-"It was BIBLICAL!" Well, hey, I thought it was a lake of FIRE! not blood... At least, that's where the crazies scream I'll be going for not repenting. (and you know, I just want to tell em "Repent? I was a DOMINAR! IT'll take longer than that to repent!")
-"Go bathe, because you *stink*." Damn, Chiana's got some great lines this ep. And that delivery just made it even better.
-DRD Abuse...
-This whole bit, the camera work here, where Crichton's sitting at the counter, and the camera goes around the bit in the middle, and comes out on the otherside... that just rocked... and the score was perfect.
-Eew. Crichton's got stigmata.
-K, what Pilot says about him degenerating... that's very plausible. However, as much as I hated the whole 'twinning' bull, I recognize that both Crichtons are equal copies of the original. I don't think either of them will be degenerating anytime soon.
-New outfit for Jool. LOOKIT THAT BELLY! DAMN! *looks down at her gut* Dammit. No fair. How'd a daddy's girl like Jool git that belly?! She's never prolly done a hard day's labor in her life! And, uhm, when I saw the new shirt... thingie... I had to scream 'TATTOOED BOOBIES!' cause they looked like they were tattooed.
-I'm gonna have to pee if they keep it up with all this dripping water in this ep! JEEZ!
-"St. John of the Uncharted Territories..." Yeah, okay. A joke about stigmata.
-Wow. Everyone on Moya except Pilot is acting really immature and Childish. I mean, you kinda expect it from Jool, and from Chi to a much lesser extent... but John and D'Argo, too?
-"What if I have to piss?" "Then we'll all urinate together." "Ya promise?" Damn, that was weird. WEird but funny. And you gotta love a show that says 'piss'.
-"Having fun yet?" "Galaxies of it." Yeah, Jool is one of us.
-Why is Moya leaking? It's not like it's raining outside...
-HOLY CRAP! Now THAT is a spazfit!
-nitpick: On the video, the camera angle changes, but if you look at where the DRD was, there was NO WAY it could've filmed at that angle.
-Cool paint job on that prowler.
-Who are these freaky head aliens? The chick sounds familiar, and the guy reminds me of the 'retard' from Drop Dead Gorgeous. I half expected him to start yelling 'HELP HANK HELP HANK!'.
-Ooo. The instructor is pissing off Scorpy. That's not wise.
-"I live on this ship. Something strange always happens." Hmm. You can kinda say the same thing about #farscape.
-Pilot is freaking. But what's wih the steam coming up?
-Pilot IS... Judge Dred! "For one of you, judgement starts now... I AM THE LAW!"
-BTW. This is prolly really out of chronological order, but I think the rider was originally in Crichton, but jumped to Chiana in one of the moments of 'lost time'. And with all this lost time stuff going on, is anyone else thinking 'X-Files'?
-"Actually, now that you mention it, I've been feeling a little angry." "That's normal for you."
-sheep shakin in Arkansas? I thought it was West Virginia...
-Yay, we finally get a Linda Blair reference! WHeee!
-"Opinion noted - now leave me alone." Oo. I have to use this line. A lot.
-They are really over using that stock footage of a command carrier... yeesh.
-AHAHA! Gooey Pilot! I know it's wrong, but I GOTTA laugh!
-Oh, see? Told you. The Instructor shouldn't have pissed Scorpius off. Now he's going to be gooey Pilot #2. And he's begging Scorpy for his life? Oh, man, you are so SCREWED!
-What's with the weird lighting on Pilot this ep? It's too bright, makes him look less realistic.
-"I was 16." *pause* "I was 7." Well, okay, I guess that confirms my theory that Luxans mature at a much faster rate than humans...
-I just noticed... but Chiana's wearing a new outfit. It's got like, studs on it.
-ROFL at the whole 'Who killed Sakas' bit. That was a great way of checking, D'Argo. But seriously, I do wanna know if she killed Salis, or if it was Durka.
-Well, about Jool. I mean, it's true that they don't know hardly anything about her. She could make it all up. This makes her a prime suspect...
-Heh. Jool spazzes... and look! She's foaming at the mouth! Jool's rabid!
-Just looking at DRD Pike, I have to say... I WANT A DRD FOR XMAS!
-So, Starburst Energy coalesces in the Tinfoil Room?
-Chi does her DeeDee Impression. "OOOO! What does THIS button do?!" *push*
-Aw, John. You're such a bad liar. It's obvious that you saw the rider in Chi.
-Chi's voice, when the rider is talking, really freaks me out. I will agree with everyone who already said it... she sounds like Nell. It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but that's it.
-"This body wants you" - the rider says this. I am wondering if it's picking up on any latent feelings Chiana may still have for Crichton?
-Whoa. Magic Fingers.
-"I'm a guy, I'll prolly be back in 15 minutes." "That's not NATURAL!" *boggle* These are some of my favorite lines in this ep... roflmao!
-Scorpy takes his meds... eww. You have to inject it into the jaw? ERk. Is this related to the coolant rods, or something entirely different.
-Lots of cool info on the Scarran/Sebacean war brewing.
-This, I feel, sheds a little more light on Braca. He doesn't ask questions, he does his job. I dunno. The whole convo in Scorpy's quarters just makes him seem a bit more... real?
-Okay. Weird thought. The Scarrans think that PKs have wormhole tech? Could this be because, all those years ago when John first showed up, a Scarran insider found out about his spectacular arrival? And since, after all, Crichton looks Sebacean, they might've thought that he's a test pilot for the PKs...
-"This plan is so bad, it has to be ours."
-I think it's interesting that Jool is sorta comforting Chiana and rocking her. I bet these two will be friends yet.
-Oh, and of course, the Rider wants to stay in Pilot... *sigh* It should be easy. It's never EASY!
-Heh. Tired Chi needs some o those pills from DALD...
-"I'm not talking about the sex thing - that was great, but I'm not talking about it." Heh. See that? That's as close as we're ever gonna get to John/Chiana porn.
-"Too much will make you go blind." And that is masturbation joke #3 in this show's history... and the second made by Monj... and the second this season, too.
-When Crichton calls Telep 'numbnuts', my mom actually laughed. I'm not even gonna make comment about the sexual anatomy of Pilots... But damn, now I'm all curious.
-DRD go boom. Bibi, DRD. Well, at least we still have Lil Blue.
-Heh. At the part where the starburst Zaps the energy rider, my dad looks up and goes, 'Didn't I see that in Ghostbusters?'
-I am kinda pissed at the explanation of Crichton bleeding. Because he's inferior? C'mon. That's bull. Couldn't there have been a better reason?
-Okay. So, the energy rider apparently knocked something loose in Chi, and now she's all clairvoyant.
Random stuff that really doesn't fit anywhere else:
-K. So this is a bit confusing. Is there like, A Johnclone on the chip, or does Scorpy somehow have a JohnClone in his head? Either way it's interesting - there's a copy of John's personality on the chip, or in Scorpy's head. Poetic justice and all that.
-Oh, and. People have been wondering why MC isn't looking for Talyn. Well, I see it this way. He knows that if he were with Aeryn on Talyn, he'd be getting close to her. He figures that he is gonna have no chance - so he might as well take up with his other goal - find Earth. People are saying this seems out of character... well, to me it doesn't - it makes perfect sense. The other Crichton will most likely end up with Aeryn, and you know that's gotta hurt MC. He's prolly figuring that if he's not going to have a shot with her, he can at least go home. If I was in his position, I'd most likely be doing the same thing.
-Oh, yeah, and about the wormholes. I don't think there's some thing that makes it so Sebaceans can't navigate wormholes without being turned into goo. I think that Scorpy screwed up in his equations, or maybe prowlers aren't shielded enough for the radiation or whatever put off by wormholes. After all, think about this: Aeryn and Crichton were in the module in TTBRC when he created a proto-wormhole, and Aeryn was not aversely affected. So that can't be that.
-This ep was okay. Not great, but not of the horrible suckage of EM. Unfortunately, I think most of the Energy Riders story was filler - to kinda distract you from the whole thing with Scorpy, and make it seem less important. Now, I've seen eps where this has worked well - BOD, where the parts with the vorc are there to distract you from Crichton's descent into madness - and ones where it worked really badly - once again, EM, where the story of Crais and Talyn felt like it was stuffed into the story line because they had an extra 5 minutes to fill. Honestly. The small stories in the 3 eps here - EM, BOD, and LT is the *real* story. These are setting up future events which will have big impacts on the crew - Two Crichtons, Crichton going mad, and in the case of LT, the impending Scarran/PK war. Which is sorta creeping me out. Someone at the TX scaper meet in Dallas a few months back called this. They said that events were being set up to lead our crew(s) right into the middle of a HUGE war.
-Next week looks cool. I wasn't expecting the retrieval squad to catch up to Talyn so quickly tho, y'know? I thought they were going to drag that out for a long time. Altho, I'm starting to become a bit bored with the split crews thing. It's interesting, but I hope they don't keep it up for too much longer.
Okay. That's all for this week. My day just got suddenly 3000 times crappier, thanks to my family.
LBT.
